Massive manhunt launched for gunmen who killed six people

KwaZulu-Natal police have launched a manhunt for at least four suspects who allegedly killed six people at Umlazi Township.

Police are looking for four gunmen suspected of killing six people in two different incidents in Umlazi township, south of Durban.

The seventh victim of the Friday night attack in Q Section is fighting for his life in the hospital.
KwaZulu-Natal police have begun a huge manhunt for the armed men.

Colonel Robert Netshiunda, a KZN police spokesperson, verified the event.

Where did the gunmen kill the six people?

According to Colonel Netshiunda, the four suspects broke into a house shortly before midnight and shot two victims.

“One person was shot inside a backroom, while the four were shot outside near the toilet.” “He was also discovered with burn wounds,” he added.

Afterwards, the same suspects went to a nearby informal settlement and shot three people inside a shack.

Two were pronounced dead at the spot, while the third one was transported to the hospital with gunshot wounds.

“Preliminary investigation has revealed that one of the suspects, who was leading the other three, demanded his identity document from the victims before shooting them,” said Netshiunda.

Police suspected him of being involved in another homicide in which he allegedly dropped his identity document.

According to reports, the suspect believed that one of the deceased possessed his identity document.

Three suspects have already been identified.

Police are asking anyone with information regarding the whereabouts of the suspects to contact the nearest police station, call crime stop line 08600 10111, or alert the police via the MySAPS app.
