A man was fatally shot in front of his wife in KwaZulu-Natal by a suspect who claimed to be a police officer to gain entry to his property.

On Thursday, 25 May, a tragic incident unfolded in Magwaveni, KwaZulu-Natal, as a man fell victim to a fatal shooting during a robbery at his residence.

Man shot in the presence of his wife and child

The horrifying event took place in the presence of his wife and their minor child.

The Reaction Unit South Africa (RUSA) Tongaat Operations Centre swiftly responded to a distress call for assistance at approximately 21:59.

Upon reaching the scene, the Reaction Officers made a grim discovery – the lifeless body of a male inside the home.

He had sustained multiple gunshot wounds to his body and head.

Suspect claims to be a police officer

According to the victim’s spouse, the ordeal began with a knock on their door. A man claiming to be a police officer demanded entry into their house.

Resolute in their decision, the couple refused to unlock the door. However, the perpetrators forcefully gained access to their residence.

Subsequently, three men confronted the couple and demanded cash.

Regrettably, even after explaining that no funds were available, the male victim was mercilessly shot multiple times.

The assailants searched the premises and managed to uncover an undisclosed sum of money before fleeing on foot in an unknown direction.

Fortunately, the woman and her child emerged physically unscathed from the harrowing incident.
