Limpopo man guns down wife, daughter and alleged boyfriend

A 58-year-old man is set to appear in court for allegedly gunning down his wife, daughter and an alleged boyfriend in Bothashoek, Limpopo.

A 58-year-old man was arrested for allegedly killing his wife, daughter and alleged boyfriend at their home in Bothashoek, Dithabaneng village under Tubatse policing area outside Burgersfort in Limpopo.

The incident reportedly happened on Monday, 26 September 2022 and police were reportedly called to the scene by community members at about 23:00. 

MAN JAILED FOR ALLEGEDLY KILLING HIS FAMILY 

Limpopo police spokesperson, Brigadier Motlafela Mojapelo said upon arrival to the scene, they discovered three lifeless bodies of two females and a male with gunshot wounds. The suspect was later traced and arrested. 

Mojapelo said the deceased were identified as Themina Clara Morema aged 42, her daughter Nomasonto Morema aged 24 and the man’s identity is still unknown.

“The motive for the incident is unknown at this stage but domestic violence cannot be ruled out. Police have opened three counts of murder.”

The 58-year-old man is expected to appear in the Praktiseer Magistrates Court on Wednesday 28 September 2022.

LAWYER GUNNED DOWN IN HIS HOME

In a separate incident, police in Limpopo have launched a manhunt for the alleged killers of Schalk David Pienaar, who was brutally shot in his home in Makopane on Monday evening, 19 September.

Limpopo Police Commissioner, Lieutenant General Thembi Hadebe, called on the community to help track down the 69-year-old man’s killer.

“The perpetrator(s) must be hunted down and brought to book. We appeal to community members to assist with any information that can lead to the apprehension of these faceless criminal(s),” said Hadebe.

Limpopo police spokesperson Lieutenant-Colonel Malesela Ledwaba, a police spokesperson, said Pienaar was at home with his wife when an intruder arrived and opened fire.

“The Police were notified and on their arrival at the scene, preliminary investigation showed that the victim was shot several times and it seemed he tried to run back into the house but unfortunately he collapsed,” said the spokesperson.
