When Mamelodi Sundowns vs Barcelona gets underway on Wednesday, it’ll be all eyes on the talented superstars out in the middle. Football fans will be desperate to soak in every moment of Messi magic as the Spanish champions come to Joburg.
However, many people are also interested to see just how much of a draw this fixture is for the rich and the famous. With this all being part of the #Mandela100 celebrations, the potential to spot international celebrities is high.
A game like this does come with the sideshow of “who’s who”. We’ve been doing a bit of digging, and although the list of dignitaries has been kept pretty hush-hush so far, we know that the VIP guest list is already looking stellar:

Stadium Management SA CEO Jacques Grobbelaar has confirmed that “over 500 dignitaries” will attend the game. Here are the ones we know so far.

The President of FIFA himself will be at the FNB Stadium to take in this clash. With just a month (yes, one month) until the World Cup 2018 in Russia, Infantino will be able to take it easy before the hard work starts.
Mariano Rajoy
The Spanish Prime Minister is so far the biggest international politician to confirm his attendance. He’s spent seven years as leader of the country and will be supporting the Catalan giants, despite the frosty atmosphere between the region and the nation. He’ll be arriving for the game on Wednesday.
Fikile Mbalula

Whether he’s taking part in a celebrity roast or getting elbows deep in a good twitter debate, Fikile Mbalula is never far away from the action.
Now, his attendance hasn’t been confirmed, but he’s been fervently tweeting about the game and was part of the press conference that announced Mamelodi Sundowns vs Barcelona would go ahead.
Also, he’s a former sports minister. We’re not sure what more someone would have to do if they wanted to go to this game.

Fresh from teaming up with US superstar Wale, our homegrown hip-hop hero will be in Johannesburg on Wednesday too. He’s forming part of the pre-match entertainment and will take to the pitch from 16:00.

Did some say #FillUpTheFNBStadium? Because Cassper has done this by himself before. More than 68 000 people crammed into the venue for his larger-than-life concert last year. Needless to say, it was LIT.
