Police officer hands himself over after brutally murdering his wife

A 54-year-old police officer stationed in Polokwane, Limpopo reportedly handed himself over after shooting his wife multiple times.

A 54-year-old police officer who allegedly shot and killed his wife at Zone 8 in the Seshego policing area in Limpopo is expected to appear in the Seshego Magistrate’s Court on Wednesday 19 October 2022.

The incident reportedly happened on Thursday 13 October 2022. 

POLICE OFFICER TO APPEAR IN COURT 

According to the South African Police Service (SAPS) community members alerted them  about a shooting incident. Upon arrival at the scene, the suspect who is a police officer attached to Polokwane had already fled the scene.

Spokesperson, Brigadier Motlafela Mojapelo said when the members entered the house they discovered that the suspect’s 36-year-old wife had been shot several times.

Mojapelo said the victim was certified dead on the scene.She was identified as Millicent Ntjana.The motive for the incident is not yet known but domestic violence cannot be ruled out.

The police officer was arrested on Monday, 17 October after he handed himself to the police at Mogwadi, in Dendron outside Senwabarwana in Limpopo.

Limpopo Police Commissioner Lieutenant General Thembi Hadebe urged couples experiencing marital problems to seek help and refrain from resorting to violence, particularly members of the Police Service who must be protectors of society.
