Level 4 warning for FLOODING and severe thunderstorms

The SA Weather Services issued a level 4 warning for FLOODING and severe thunderstorms for today in these parts.

A level 4 warning for FLOODING and severe thunderstorms is in place for TODAY in these parts of South Africa.

LEVEL 4 WARNING FOR FLOODING AND SEVERE THUNDERSTORMS

According to the SA Weather Services (SAWS) the warning is in place until Sunday evening.

“Avoid travelling on low-lying roads and low- bridges, as they are susceptible to flooding. Avoid swimming and crossing on swollen rivers. Take caution when traveling or avoid traveling as roads may be flooded, potholes may be filled with water, and there may be sinkholes.”

‘MOVE LIVESTOCK TO HIGHER-LYING GROUND’

The SAWS further advised people living along the riverbanks in rural areas to take caution and evacuate to higher ground if needed as the riverbanks may flood.

“If in a rural area, move livestock to higher-lying ground.”

Meanwhile, the SAWS issued a level 2 warning for severe thunderstorms in other parts of the country on Sunday.

ANOTHER LEVEL 2 WARNING IS IN PLACE FOR OTHER PARTS OF SA

“Do not go fishing or play golf as both the golf clubs and fishing rods are a good conductor of electricity. Avoid low-lying roads and bridges. Be aware that any combination of hail, strong winds, heavy rain and/or excessive lightning can accompany the storms.”
