Labour court validates NSFAS CEO termination

NSFAS Board applauds Labour Court’s decision affirming lawfulness in terminating Andile Nongogo’s contract, deeming it valid.

The National Student Financial Aid Scheme (NSFAS) Board applauds the Labour Court’s decision on 8 January 2024, declaring the termination of Andile Nongogo’s contract as lawful and valid.

“The Court decision vindicates the NSFAS Board in terminating Mr. Nongogo’s contract of employment,” states the Board.

Rejection of application

Judge MB Mahalelo not only upheld the termination but also dismissed Nongogo’s application to strike out specific paragraphs in the Werksman Attorney’s report.

These paragraphs highlight irregular conduct related to the appointment of direct payment service providers. The Board sees this decision as crucial in holding individuals accountable for their actions.

NSFAS board hails Werksmans Attorneys report for combatting corruption

The Werksmans Attorneys report is deemed essential by the NSFAS Board. Serving as a tool to elevate awareness and combat corruption within the organization.

The report is viewed as a means to fortify internal supply chain management systems and controls, reflecting NSFAS’s commitment to eradicating corruption.

The Board emphasises its dedication to legal processes for terminating contracts with direct payment service providers while ensuring a seamless allowance disbursement for students in the upcoming academic year.
