KZN Premier carries the cross in celebrating Good Friday [PICS]

The Premier of KwaZulu-Natal Nomusa Dube-Ncube this morning (Friday, 7 April) joined the Diakonia Council of Churches in praise and worship during its Annual Ecumenical Good Friday Service in front of the Durban City Hall, at dawn from 6am.

PREMIER DUBE-NCUBE JOINS GOOD FRIDAY THEMED SERVICE

The theme for the Good Friday Service is “A quest for life in all abundance”, according to the KwaZulu-Natal Provincial Government.

As part of the procession Premier Dube-Ncube carried the cross, across the streets of Durban in remembrance of the crucifixion of our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ.

She said this is an annual service whereby Christians observe the commemoration of the Crucifixion of Jesus Christ.

“It is the most solemn day of the Christian calendar.”

The Premier was joined by the MEC for Agriculture and Rural Development Super Zuma, Mayor of eThekwini Municipality Councillor Mxolisi Kaunda, Chairperson of the Governance and Human Resources Committee Councillor Nkosenhle Madlala, Acting Director-General Sibusiso Ngubane and members of the Council of Churches.

MESSAGE FOR ROAD USERS THIS EASTER WEEKEND

In wishing all observers of Easter holidays, Premier Nomusa Dube said, “Easter season is a time for us to reflect on the sacrifice that was made by our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ when he was crucified for our sins. This is a period for the revival of our faith and hope for better things to come”.

“As thousands of people will be travelling to various destinations, let us all play our part in ensuring that there is no road carnage,” she urged.

KZN Premier also warned residents to be on high alert with regards to weather patterns.

“Sadly during this time last year, our province suffered flood disasters and many people lost their lives. We call upon all citizens to remain on high alert and adhere to weather warnings to remain safe,” she said.

She added, “May all your hopes be fulfilled and wonderful blessings upon you and your loved ones. Let us pray for peace, stability and unity in our country, on behalf of the KwaZulu-Natal Provincial Government we wish you all a Blessed and Happy Easter”.
