KZN police officers accused of robbing e-hailing driver
An e-hailing driver has accused police officers of robbing him of his money in Tongaat, KZN. The suspected cops were wearing civilian clothes.

A man employed at an e-hailing company has accused four men believed to be police officers of robbing him on the R102 between Verulam and Tongaat in KZN on Monday.
The victim was allegedly pulled over after he was directed to do so by a man standing in his lane.
KZN ‘POLICE OFFICERS’ ACCUSED OF ROBBING E-HAILING DRIVER
According to the victim, two other men were standing next to a white unmarked VW Polo sedan with registration BVB 69* B.
One person was noticed seated in the vehicle. The man believed that they were police officers and pulled over.
They were all dressed in civilian clothing. The victim was unable to recall one numerical digit of the registration.
Three men are said to have approached his blue Renault Triber and questioned him with regards to him being an e-hailing driver.
Initially, he denied it when one of the men got into the passenger side of his vehicle and produced a firearm.
They reportedly asked him to unlock his cellphone and viewed the apps on his phone. When they established that he was an e-hailing driver they demanded he hand over his cash. The victim complied.
The suspects also discussed taking the vehicle however it was low on fuel and they opted to leave it behind.
The victim, in the meantime, managed to activate his panic button linked to Tracker. He received a call from a call center agent attempting to verify if all was in order. The suspect poked his firearm on his side and gestured to him to answer the caller.

Reaction Unit South Africa (RUSA) said they received a call from Tracker at approximately 16:12 requesting a wellness check on the driver after the call centre agent felt that something was amiss.
“Reaction Officers were dispatched to the location and on arrival located the vehicle and the driver who provided the sequence of events. He informed Officers that the suspects had fled in the VW Polo after he disconnected the call with his vehicle tracking company. He was visibly shaken but not injured. A criminal case was registered at the Tongaat SAPS.”
