Disruptive rain and severe thunderstorms in KwaZulu-Natal

The South African Weather Service has issued a warning for disruptive rain and severe thunderstorms in KwaZulu-Natal.

The South African Weather Service (SAWS) has issued a Yellow level 2 warning for disruptive rain and severe thunderstorms in KwaZulu-Natal.

The warning is for Tuesday, 31 October 2023.

DISRUPTIVE RAIN AND SEVERE THUNDERSTORMS IN KWAZULU-NATAL

The weather service said widespread to scattered showers and thundershowers are expected over KwaZulu-Natal on Tuesday.

“With significant amounts of rain already observed in places along the coast and rain still expected to persist for the day, localised impacts can be expected due to disruptive rain,” the weather service said.

DISRUTPIVE SNOW WARNING ISSUED

On Sunday, another warning was issued for severe thunderstorms and disruptive snow.

The weather service said severe thunderstorms leading to gusty winds, large amounts of small hail and heavy downpours leading to localised damage to settlements, flooding of susceptible roads, low-lying areas and bridges are expected over Gauteng, northern parts of KwaZulu-Natal, southern escarpment and Highveld of Mpumalanga, south-western Limpopo, as well as over the eastern parts of North West and northern parts of the Free State.
