The South African Weather Service (SAWS) says isolated showers are expected along the east coast (KwaZulu-Natal and Eastern Cape) with drizzle along the escarpment of Mpumalanga on Wednesday, 9 August.
Here’s the weather outlook in the three provinces:
The Western half: Cloudy and cool with morning isolated showers and rain along the coast and adjacent interior. It will become partly cloudy in the afternoon.
Temperature: Cloudy and cool but cold in the south-western high grounds. Isolated showers are expected along the coast and adjacent interior.
Temperature: Fine in the morning, otherwise partly cloudy and cool to warm, becoming cloudy along the escarpment in the afternoon where evening drizzle can be expected.
Meanwhile, saws has issued a Yellow Level 1 warning for damaging waves in the Western Cape and Northern Cape.
The warning is valid from Tuesday, 8 August until Thursday, 10 August.
The weather service said South-westerly swell of 4 – 4.5m with a period of 15 seconds is expected along the coast between Alexander Bay and Cape Agulhas from Tuesday evening, 8 August, spreading to Plettenberg Bay on Wednesday morning, 9 August while subsiding on Thursday, 10 August.
“In addition, fresh to strong south-easterly winds are expected to accompany the swells and thus likely result in very rough and choppy seas,” the weather service said.
