NSFAS has announced that it will be making the first payment of allowances through its Bank Account tomorrow.

The National Student Financial Aid Scheme (NSFAS) has announced that it will be making the first payment of allowances through the #NSFASBankAccount this Friday, 30 June 2023.

According to NSFAS, this payment of allowances will be for all students that have their registration data successfully linked and have registered for an account.

“Students who have not onboarded, we encourage you to do so urgently for NSFAS to pay your allowances.”

MINISTER NZIMANDE ANNOUNCES NEW ALLOWANCE PAYMENT METHOD

Last year (2022), Dr Blade Nzimande, the Minister of the Department of Higher Education and Training, Science and Innovation, introduced the NSFAS Mastercard for the scheme’s beneficiaries this year (2023).

This after he officially announced the 2023 National Student Financial Aid Scheme funding applications on 27 September 2022, which consisted of a few improvements, including a new payment method.

Nzimande explained that the plan is to have all beneficiaries at universities and TVET colleges receive their allowances and transact through the NSFAS Mastercard.

“Before becoming [this] Mastercard holder, you are to be a fully registered student,” Minister Nzimande advised.
