Four people were killed in a HORRIFIC multi-vehicle accident on the N12 on Thursday morning due to misty conditions. Here is the latest.

Four people were killed in a HORRIFIC multi-vehicle accident on the N12 on Thursday morning.

JUST IN – FOUR PEOPLE WERE KILLED IN HORRIFIC ACCIDENT ON THE N12

According to the Mpumalanga Department of Community Safety, Security and Liaison Moeti Mmusi, the accident happened on the N12 road between Witbank and Ogies in Emalahleni.

He said the road is still closed as emergency personnel and law enforcement officers are at the scene.

THE ROAD IS STILL CLOSED AS EMERGENCY SERVICES ARE BUSY ON SCENE

“The multiple vehicle collisions were largely caused by reduced visibility due to early morning mist.

“The multiple collisions include articulated trucks, sedans, and light delivery vehicles (LDVs).”

Mmusi said motorists are once again encouraged to reduce speed, increase following distance, and switch their headlights on when driving in misty conditions.

It is believed three of the deceased were all occupants in one of the involved sedans.

Meanwhile, on Tuesday evening, a petrol tanker was on fire near Bloemfontein.

WHAT HAPPENED TO THE PETROL TANKER IN BLOEMFONTEIN

According to VR Medical, a Bloemfontein-based Emergency Rescue Service, the petrol tanker went up in flames following a collision.

The company has reported that the N1 is closed in both directions, close to the Nelson Mandela offramp.
