Postponed to revise documents

Jub Jub’s defence lawyer Terrence Ntsako Baloyi requested the case be moved to 12 March to allow time to revise documents against his client.

“We would like to ask for an extension for my client. We can make it until March this year.”

The extension was granted by Magistrate Betty Khumalo.

There have been several postponements to the case against Molemo “Jub Jub” Maarohanye, first in November, then in December.

Magistrate Khumalo said the investigation was concluded long ago.

In July, Jub Jub handed himself over to police after receiving a tip off about the charges against him, and was granted bail of R10 000.

Jub Jub maintains innocence

Maintaining his innocence through his lawyer, Jub Jub pleaded not guilty to all the charges against him.

Through his attorney Jub Jub says the charges brought against him have been fabricated to attempt to ruin the career he’s worked so hard to build.

Jub Jub believes that the 2021 interview he had with MacG on Podcast and Chill is what sparked the case against him.

During the interview Jub Jub made comments bragging about “smashing” his ex-girlfriend and actress, Amanda du Pont.

In a video response, which has since been removed from her Instagram account, the actress stated that Jub Jub didn’t smash her, instead he raped her.

Amanda detailed a number of occasions where she was allegedly raped by Jub Jub.

The actress claimed the rapes went on for 2-years and said she was a virgin when she met Jub Jub.

Amanda said she finally found the courage to leave the relationship when she found out that he was cheating on her with the mother of his son, gospel singer Kelly Khumalo.

The 4 women who came forward to lay charges against Jub Jub include Amanda and Kelly, as well as Masechabe Khumalo, and a woman who is related to the rapper.
