Jub Jub wants his bail conditions relaxed

TV presenter and musician Jub Jub – real name Molemo Maarohanye – has asked for lighter bail conditions in his sexual assault case.

JUB JUB’S RAPE CASE POSTPONED

According to ZiMoja, the Uyajola 9/9 host made a brief appearance at the Johannesburg Magistrate’s Court, where his case was postponed to Thursday, 25 April.

The SABC reports that Jub Jub was given another date, 12 June, for the outcome of the Director of Public Prosecutions’ instructions or the outcome of his representation.

COMPLAINANTS, STATE WITNESSES AND BAIL CONDITIONS

Jub Jub is facing 13 counts, ranging from multiple counts of rape, assault, attempted murder and kidnapping.

The complainants are three of his ex-girlfriends, actress Amanda; his baby mama and songstress Kelly Khumalo; and Radio and TV host Masechaba Khumalo. The fourth woman is his cousin and singer, Bonukuhle Mtsweni

According to Sunday World, it was revealed that the state witnesses include Kelly Khuma’s mother, Ntombi Khumalo. Masechaba Khumalo’s friend and Du-Pont’s younger sister are also state witnesses.

In August last year, the Ndikhokhele hitmaker handed himself over at the Brixton police station where he was granted R10 000 bail.

Some of his bail conditions included not travelling outside the country, hence he handed his passport to the authorities at the time. He was also ordered not communicate with the complainants or attempt to be in contact with them.

RAPPER’S ARGUMENT AGAINST AMANDA DU-PONT

Sunday World reported in September that the media personality is expected to argue – among other things – that Du-Pont would have reported him whilst in jail if he had indeed sexually assaulted her.

In court papers, the musician said his romantic relationship with the former Skeem Saam actress was a happy one until she found out through the papers in 2009 that he was cheating on her with Kelly Khumalo. He claimed he later only heard from her when he was serving jail time for culpable homicide between 2012 and 2017.

The Phind’ukhulume rapper said the actress had visited him in prison with musician and businessman DJ Sbu – real name Sibusiso Leope. During their visit, the former couple took a picture together.

HOLES IN MASECHABA KHUMALO’S VERSION OF EVENTS?

In the case of Newzroom Afrika anchor Masechaba Khumalo, Jub Jub will point out alleged inconsistencies. Masechaba told MacG on Podcast and Chill in 2019 that her first sexual encounter was with her step-dad in America.

However, in her police statement, the former One Day Leader reportedly said she dated the rapper when she was a virgin at the age of 16.
