JAC Motors SA, an official importer and distributor of the JAC brand of products into South Africa, not only terminated its relationship with Ngizwe Mchunu but also recalled the vehicle sponsorship too.

TRIBALISTIC REMARKS TO EFF LEADER JULIUS MALEMA

The Economic Freedom Fighters (EFF) in KwaZulu-Natal put pressure on JAC Motors after the franchise sponsoring Mchunu was called into a meeting following the former Ukhozi FM presenter’s tribalist utterance against the leader of the red beret, Julius Malema.

Mchunu told Malema that KwaZulu-Natal is for Zulu people only and that the EFF Manifesto should be launched in Limpopo and not at the Moses Mabhida Stadium.

Following these remarks, JAC Motors convened a special meeting on Thursday, 28 December to further deliberate on this matter,

“We have made contact with our franchised dealer in Port Shepstone who is represented by Mr Sicelo Nyandeni.

“We are informed that a meeting will take place between yourselves at your offices in Durban on Thursday 28 December 2023 to further discuss any concerns which may have emanated from various articles circulated on social media platforms.
We further wish to place on record that Mr Ngizwe Mchunu is not a JAC South Africa (Pty)Ltd sponsored ambassador,” said Derrick Bishop, Chief Operating Officer at JAC Motors, initially.

Furthermore, the company released a statement requesting Mchunu to return the sponsored bakkie. Nyandeni said,” JAC Motors Port Shepstone hereby distances itself from tribalistic and divisive utterances from Mr Ngizwe Mchunu. These utterances are condemned in the strongest of terms. As such, we have taken a decision to terminate our relationship with Mr Ngizwe Mchunu and recall our vehicle from his possession”.

Ngizwe has since apologised after being called out by former colleague Linda ‘Mr Magic’ Sibiya, a new member of the EFF.
