Turkey has eased entry for passport holders of six countries. See which nationalities are now visa-exempt.

Turkey has lifted visa requirements for nationals of 6 countries that were subject to visa restrictions.

The arrangement was announced in the country’s official gazette on Saturday 23 December. 

VISA EXEMPT

Daily Sabah states that nationals of the following countries are now visa-exempt when travelling to Turkey:

Bahrain

United Arab Emirates

Oman

Saudi Arabia

Canada

United States of America

TURKEY EASES ENTRY

 Tourists from these countries can now spend 90 days in every 180 days in Türkiye, without the need for a visa.

The update was enacted according to a presidential decree dated 23 December, which was signed by Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan.

TOURISM

This development is good news for passport holders of the countries mentioned above.

Henceforth, travellers from these states will now be to able visit Turkey without red tape.

They will also not have to fork out money for expensive entry visas.

SCRAPPING VISAS

A number of countries have partially or fully scrapped visa requirements in recent times. The move is likely a measure used by governments to boost tourist arrivals.

Tourism sectors in many countries have suffered due to flagging tourist flows in post-pandemic times.

Furthermore, eased entry for tourists helps to make a country more accessible and attractive to international travellers.

SOUTH AFRICA

South African nationals are still subject to visa requirements for Turkey. However, these visas are not complicated or costly. 

South African passport holders can obtain online visas for Turkey. These e-visas visas are valid for stays of up to 90 days.
