The live entertainment industry is back in full swing after suffering during the Covid-19 pandemic. Here is a list of international celebrities that South Africans can look forward to seeing still in this year, including details of the performances.
International comedian Jim Jefferies
Australian comedian Jim Jefferies will be heading to South Africa in November 2024 with a show in Cape Town on 21 November and another show in Pretoria on 23 November. The venue for the Cape Town show is the Grand Arena at GrandWest Casino. The Pretoria show will take place at the SunBet Arena at Time Square Casino. The show is titled Give ‘Em What They Want. He started touring the show at the end of 2022 with performances in Asia, Europe, and North America.
R&B star Johnny Gill
Of the international celebrities coming to South Africa, the American R&B star Johnny Gill is sure to be a highlight. He will be performing at the Sun City Superbowl on 21 June and the SunBet Arena on 22 June 2024. South Africa’s Brian Temba, Ntando, and Wilson B Nkosi will be joining him on stage, according to Times Live. Gill, a two-time Grammy Award nominee, is known for songs like My, My, My, Maybe and Let’s Get the Mood Right.
James Blunt performance
English singer, songwriter, and musician James Blunt will be performing in South Africa in September. This is another highlight as far as international celebrities coming to South Africa goes. The Cape Town show will take place at the Grand Arena at GrandWest Casino on 12 September. On 14 September he will be performing at the SunBet Arena at Time Square Casino in Pretoria. Blunt has released seven albums since 2004 and has sold over 20 million records worldwide.
Kool & the Gang’s performance
Kool & the Gang will embark on their tour in South Africa in November 2024. They will perform at the Grand Arena at GrandWest Casino on 28 November and at the SunBet Arena in Pretoria on 30 November.
They have won a Grammy Award twice. Kool & the Gang has performed continuously longer than any R&B group in history. They have fans across the globe and their music has featured in various movie soundtracks such as Saturday Night Fever, Pulp Fiction, and Wreck-It Ralph.
Music legend Engelbert Humperdinck
The British pop singer Engelbert Humperdinck’s Last Waltz Farewell Tour will take place at SunBet Arena, Time Square Casino in Pretoria, on 12 July 2024, and the Grand Arena at GrandWest in Cape Town on 14 July 2024. Some of Humperdinck’s best known songs are Quando Quando Quando, There Goes my Everything, and Spanish Eyes. He’s sold over 150 million records worldwide.
