Grant collection has begun smoothly for 2024. If your grant is approved, you should be able to collect your social grant on the announced dates – starting from TODAY.

Social grants include the Disability Grant, Childcare Grant, In-Aid Grant, Veterans Grant, and the R350-SRD Grant.
Important SASSA update for January’s recipients
The South Afican Social Security Agency (SASSA) have released an important update for January’s grant recipients, including the payment dates for the first social grants of the year.

Approved social grant recipients should be able to collect their grants from today, 3 January 2024.
The first social grant that pays out is the Older Persons (Pensioners) grant, which is issued to those of retirement age who require government assistance. Approved grants can be collected at pay-points, or will be paid into your bank account.
SASSA: JANUARY 2024 PAYMENT DATES
The next payment dates have also been announced by the South African Social Security Agency.
Approved grants can be collected on the following dates:
- Older Persons (Pensioners) Grants will pay out on 3 January, 2024.
- Disability Grants will be paid on 4 January, 2024.
- Other social grants, including the Child Support Grant and In-Aid Grant, will be paid on 5 January, 2024.
The last social grant on this list is expected to be the R350-SRD Grant, which is expected to be paid to grant recipients towards the later part of January.

If you haven’t received your social grant, contact a regional office or a national call centre.
SASSA news for 2024
SASSA have also released more important news for grant recipients to take note of this year.
All social grant cards will remain valid for the year, even though previous announcements listed an expiry date of December.
If you have a SASSA Gold Card, there’s no need to have it replaced or renewed. Cards will remain valid for the rest of 2024.
