Fighting back: Robbers shot dead by homeowners in two separate incidents

These men defended their homes – and families – by any means necessary.

Within the last two weeks, details have emerged of two separate homeowners who were forced to take drastic action on their own doorsteps.

As reported by IOL, a man in Pretoria shot and killed two home invaders at his Lynnwood residence. This comes just weeks after another armed homeowner killed two robbers at his property in Middelburg, Mpumalanga.

Yusuf Abramjee is an expert in fighting crime. He told the publication that South Africans have simply “had enough” of living in fear:

“Citizens are increasingly becoming fed up with rampant crime. We are seeing victims starting to fight back. Crime is out of control and these thugs are running amok.”

Justice served?

In Lynnwood, it’s reported that one of the burglars waited for the homeowner to jump out of his car, as he was investigating why another unknown vehicle was parked on his driveway.

The criminal attempted to drive away with the family still inside the car, but he was shot and died on the scene. A second robber then tried to ram that car out of the way in his own getaway vehicle, before he too was gunned down by his would-be victim.

The Middelburg incident bears some very similar hallmarks to what happened in Pretoria. Again, a “man of the house” was forced to use a firearm after discovering two thieves on his property, threatening to harm his family.

A third accomplice was also shot in Mpumalanga, but he survived his wounds and has since been taken into police custody. Both cases are now under review, with parallel investigations into house robbery currently taking place.
