‘Hier kom die Bokke’:Tshwane welcomes Springbok trophy tour

Tshwane Mayor says they are ready to welcome the Springboks, as they kick-off their four day trophy tour in Pretoria on Thursday.

The Springboks are ready to kick off a four-day trophy tour, starting in Tshwane on Thursday. The famous song ‘Hier kom die Bokke’ can be sung all across the country in anticipation.

The tour, full of sportsmanship and national pride, kicks off in Pretoria, goes through Johannesburg and Soweto, and ends at FNB Stadium on 2 November.

Brink praised the Springboks for their historic World Cup win in Paris, where they beat New Zealand 11-12. He admired their inspiring unity amid national challenges.

Brink eagerly anticipates hosting a victory parade and has expressed his readiness. His words convey deep pride and appreciation for the Springboks’ remarkable success.

“I am looking forward to meeting Captain Siya Kolisi and the team during the victory parade on Thursday. The capital city is ready to host the champs.”

The next cities to be visited

In the coming days, the Springboks will visit Cape Town on Friday, November 3, and Durban on Saturday, November 4. The tour will culminate in the Eastern Cape, specifically in East London, on Sunday, 5 November.

In 2024, satellite tours to Bloemfontein, Nelson Mandela Bay, and other places are planned. Similar tours after the 2019 win were canceled due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

The route for each tour has been determined with input from local authorities and the South African Police Service.

Maps and schedules for the routes will be shared on SA Rugby’s website and social media, as well as by local authorities, in the near future.
