‘Akabuyi’: Delegates tell Gwede Mantashe at ANC Conference [watch]

Some delegates have straight up told Gwede Mantashe that he will not be forming part of the new ANC top seven.

Some delegates have told outgoing ANC Chairperson Gwede Mantashe that he will not be forming part of the incoming top seven. 

The ANC is currently holding its 55th National Conference in Nasrec, Johannesburg, and results for the party’s incoming top seven are expected to be announced on Monday morning, 19 December 2022. 

DELEGATES TELL MANTASHE HE IS NOT COMING BACK 

In a video that was shared on social media platforms, the young men say they can bet R1 million that Mantashe is not coming back. 

The nominees for the top seven are as follows:

  • ANC President: Cyril Ramaphosa, Zweli Mkhize
  • ANC Deputy President: Paul Mashatile, Ronald Lamola, Oscar Mabuyane
  • ANC National Chairperson: Stanley Mathabatha, Gwede Mantashe, David Masondo
  • ANC Secretary-General: Mdumiseni Ntuli, Phumulo Masualle, Fikile Mbalula
  • First ANC Deputy Secretary-General: Nomvula Mokonyane, Tina Joemat-Petterson.
  • Second ANC Deputy Secretary-General: Ronalda Nalumango, Maropeng Ramokgopa
  • ANC Treasurer-General: Benjani Chauke, Pule Mabe

Former City of Ekurhuleni Mayor, Mzwandile Masina withdrew from contesting the position of Treasurer-General and instead endorsed current national spokesperson Pule Mabe.

Delegates from the various provinces started voting on Sunday morning, 18 December 2022 and as previously reported, results are expected to be announced on Monday, 19 December 2022.
