The North West Department of Education marking process for the Grade 12 papers concluded without any reported incidents.
On Friday, 22 December 2023, the 20 established marking centres across the province officially closed down.
The 3,256 markers and 522 marker assistants returned home after performing a meticulous job, according to the department.

The MEC for Education, Viola Motsumi thanked all the markers who participated in the marking process.
“On behalf of the department l would like to thank each and every Marker and Assistant Marker who sacrificed their time to mark the Grade 12 papers. We are really grateful to our educators who decided to share their knowledge with us.
“I wish all educators a safe journey as they return back home.. As the North West province we remain hopeful that we will be amongst the top provinces in the country when results are released”, said MEC Motsumi.
The North West Department of Education will host the Matric Release function at Sun City Resort on Friday, 19 January 2024.
Once results are released, matric learners will be able to access their results online via their respective websites of their examination body.
