A Grade 10 boy learner from Geluksdal Secondary School in Brakpan, Ekurhuleni, has allegedly been stabbed to death by a group of learners he fought with during school hours.

The incident happened on Thursday, 2 February.

GRADE 10 LEARNER STABBED TO DEATH

According to the Gauteng Department of Education, it is alleged that a fight emanated from three Grade 10 boy learners pepper spraying other learners during schooling hours. Subsequently, about eight learners confronted them about their behaviour, and they stopped.

It is further alleged that the perpetrators emerged after school in the company of unknown persons, not from the school. The group reportedly started a fight with the learners, who were unpleased by their behaviour and stabbed them.

“Both were taken to Pholosong Hospital in an ambulance. Police attended the scene and are investigating circumstances surrounding this incident,” he said.

Mabona said the department’s psychosocial support would be dispatched to provide the necessary counselling and trauma support.
