Taxi Strike: Golden Arrow secured interdict against SANTACO

Golden Arrow can now hope to operate in a calm environment after the High Court granted an interdict against SANTACO

The South African National Taxi Counil (SANTACO) in the Western Cape, will now be able to transport commuter around Cape Town without the fear of intimidating or harassment. This is as a result of a court order granted in favour of the bus company in the Western Cape High Court.

RELIEF FOR BUS COMPANY

Since the start of the strike on Thursday, a few of Golden Arrow buses have been torched with on driver getting shot at.

“Golden Arrow Bus Services has one primary objective and that is to provide safe and reliable transport to Cape Town’s commuters”, says General Manager Derick Meyer.

TAXI INDUSTRY ORDERED SAFE GUARD BUS COMANY

In his decision on the urgent application, Justice Gamble ordered that SANTACO are not allowed to intimidate, harass, threaten or interfering with Golden Arrow, its employees and passengers.

Gamble ordered that SANTACO must take all reasonable steps to ensure that Golden Arrow is able operate without interference.

As of Sunday morning, the bus company said they were unable to operate from within Khayelitsha, Nyanga, Philippi East, Langa and Mfuleni as the situation remained volatile.
