The Gauteng Provincial Legislature’s Committee on Community Safety has strongly criticised the recent tragic killing of a doctor in Dobsonville, Soweto.

Dr. Michael Isabelle, a well-known figure in the area, was shot during a robbery at his clinic and later died in hospital.

The committee expressed deep concern that Dr. Isabelle lost his life for refusing to hand over his laptop and phones. They described the incident as completely unacceptable, highlighting the ongoing violence in communities despite efforts to tackle crime.

Committee demands swift police action on senseless crimes

Calling on the police to quickly catch those responsible, the committee stressed the need to hold them accountable. They stated, “We must send a clear message that such senseless crimes have no place in our society.”

The committee also offered heartfelt condolences to Dr. Isabelle’s family and recognised the crucial role doctors play in saving lives.

“We stand with them during this tough time and urge everyone to unite against violence and work towards safer communities for all.”
