Should Gabuza’s explanation fall short, a warrant of arrest will be issued. Resulting in the cancellation of his bail and his immediate incarceration. Dubazana cautioned, “If the magistrate is not satisfied with the explanation, then the warrant of arrest is confirmed, bail is cancelled, and forfeited to the state. He will then be remanded in custody.”

Gabuza’s legal woes began when he failed to appear in court on January 29, 2024, for a charge of malicious damage to property. Despite being out on R3,000 bail, his repeated court absences have raised eyebrows. This has garnered attention from both the media and legal experts.

Final chance for redemption

With his next court appearance scheduled for February 15, Gabuza’s fate hangs in the balance. His failure to appear or provide a valid explanation may lead to his swift arrest and subsequent imprisonment.

Gabuza’s legal team has attributed his absence to ill-health in the past. But such excuses may not suffice this time. The court’s patience is wearing thin, and Gabuza’s future in professional soccer hinges on his ability to navigate this legal hazard.

Unprecedented decision

In an unprecedented move, the court has given Gabuza one last chance to redeem himself. However, failure to comply with the court’s directives will result in swift and decisive action.

Gabuza’s bail conditions prohibit any contact with the complainant and mandate his attendance at all court hearings. Any breach of these conditions will result in severe repercussions, including a return to prison.
