Former Arsenal player Kevin Campbell has died aged 54 after a “short illness,” the Premier League club announced on Saturday.

Former Arsenal, Everton and Nottingham Forest striker and soccer commentator Kevin Campbell died at 54.
KEVIN HAD BEEN HOSPITALISED TWO WEEKS BEFORE HIS DEATH
According to reports, he had been in hospital for two weeks before his death was announced on Saturday.
“We are devastated to learn that our former striker Kevin Campbell has died after a short illness.
“Kevin was adored by everyone at the club,” Arsenal said on social media.
HE WAS ADORED BY EVERYONE AT THE CLUB
A BBC report stated that Campbell scored 148 goals in 542 appearances across spells with eight clubs during his career.
The London-born Campbell made his senior debut at Arsenal in 1988 and spent seven years at the club, including two loan spells. He was part of the Arsenal side that won the English first-division league in 1990-91, the FA Cup in 1992-93 and the European Cup Winners’ Cup in 1993-94.
KEVIN BECAME EVERTON’S FIRST-EVER BLACK CAPTAIN
He joined Forest in 1995, where he spent three years, before moving to Everton in 1999 for six years.
Campbell scored 45 Premier League goals for Everton, becoming their fifth-highest goalscorer in the competition and their first-ever Black captain.
He won four major trophies with Arsenal and also played for Leyton Orient, Leicester, Nottingham Forest, Trabzonspor, Everton, West Brom and Cardiff.
IN 2007, HE MADE HIS FINAL APPEARANCE AS A PLAYER
Campbell made his final appearance as a player in February 2007 before moving into broadcasting.
Everton said earlier this month he became ill in May and was “very unwell” in hospital.
“Not just a true Goodison Park hero and icon of the English game but an incredible person as well — as anyone who ever met him will know,” Everton posted on X.
Meanwhile, Campbell’s son Tyrese thanked the public for their support.
HIS SON HAS ASKED FOR THE PRIVACY OF THEIR FAMILY
Tyrese, a 24-year-old striker, has spent the past seven seasons in the Championship side of Stoke City.
“The pain of this is indescribable and as a son you look at your dad as invincible. He is my idol, the one who I wanted to be when I grew up.
“He was the life and soul of every party and room he blessed, a one-in-a-million person that was loved by everyone. A special, special person. I’ll miss you Dad.
“I would now ask that the privacy of our family is respected as we mourn the loss of an irreplaceable father, brother, uncle and all-round amazing human being.”

According to a report by Sky News, her spokesperson confirmed the news on Wednesday evening in a statement.
