CAREER

In 1986-1987, Fikile Mbalula held the role of President of the Botshabelo Youth Congress. Showcasing his early commitment to community involvement. Following this, in 1987, he assumed the position of Publicity Secretary for the same youth congress. In that same year, he furthered his engagement by becoming the vice president of the Botshabelo Student Congress.

In 1989, he became an Area member of the United Democratic Front, and by 1990, he had ascended to the role of Secretary of the ANC Provisional Youth Committee. Serving as Regional Secretary from 1991 to 1994 and as Provincial Secretary from 1994 to 1996. Additionally, he contributed as the Secretary of ANCYL Political Education from 1996 to 1998.

In 2004, Fikile Mbalula expanded his influence internationally, becoming the President of the International Union of Socialist Youth. His political journey in South Africa continued, with roles such as Secretary-General of the ANCYL for six years (1998-2004) and President of the ANCYL for four years (2004-2008). As per Mzansi Profiles, his commitment extended to governmental responsibilities. Serving as Deputy Minister of Police from 2009 to 2010 and subsequently as the Minister of Sport and Recreation from 2010 to 2014.
