A female passenger survived a crash this morning, Sunday, 13 November, thanks to the swift cutting of the wreckage.

FEMALE PASSENGER SAVED BY JAWS OF LIFE

Just after 10:00 am, Emer-G-Med paramedics responded to the scene of a collision involving a light motor vehicle and a light delivery vehicle on the N1 in the vicinity of the John Vorster bridge in Centurion.

“On arrival on scene, a female passenger was found to be entrapped in the wreckage of a sedan which had rolled several times.”

EMER-G-MED STABILISES THE PATIENT

Emer-G-Med said Advanced Life Support intervention was needed to stabilize her before she was cut free using the Jaws-of-life.

Once free she was taken by ambulance to a nearby hospital for further care.

Meanwhile, the previous day, at approximately 18:20 Emer-G-Med paramedics responded to a single-vehicle crash on the N14 north near the Jean Avenue off-ramp.

“On arrival on the scene, paramedics found a light motor vehicle had crashed into an Armco barrier. A female passenger was treated for moderate injuries and taken by ambulance to a nearby hospital for further care.”

The driver, a male approximately thirty years of age was found to have sustained fatal injuries and was declared dead on arrival of paramedics.

Just after 06h30 the same day, Emer-G-Med paramedics responded to the scene of a single motor vehicle accident on the N4, just after the N1 split.
On arrival on scene, a single light motor vehicle was found to have overturned.
Two females and a male aged in their twenties, sustained minor to moderate injuries and were treated and stabilized on scene before being taken to hospital by a private ambulance service.

On closer inspection, two other females were found with serious injuries.
One patient was entrapped in the wreckage with serious injuries as well as an amputation to her lower limb. Advanced Life Support intervention was needed to stabilize both patients, whilst the Jaws-of-life were used to cut the entrapped patient free.

Once free she and the other patient were placed onto a mechanical ventilator to assist with breathing and transported rapidly by ambulances under the care of Emergency Care Practitioners, to a nearby hospital for further definitive care.
