Eskom, South Africa’s primary electricity supplier, has implemented a comprehensive load shedding schedule to manage the strain on the national power grid.

“Due to low electricity demand and the expected return to service of two units earlier than planned, Stage 1 loadshedding will be implemented from 11:00 today until 16:00,” said Eskom.

Eskom pleaded with the public to switch off non-essential appliances to reduce the demand, especially between 17:00 and 21:00.
