Eskom load shedding schedule – SATURDAY

Eskom has reduced load shedding from Stage 5 to Stage 3 due to improved generation capacity and emergency reserves.

Eskom has reduced load shedding from Stage 5 to Stage 3 due to improved generation capacity and emergency reserves.

“Due to the sustained improvement of the generation capacity with unplanned outages at 13 542MW, loadshedding will be reduced to Stage 2 from 10:00 today until 16:00. Thereafter, Stage 3 loadshedding will be implemented from 16:00 until 05:00 on Sunday when loadshedding will be suspended from 05:00 until 16:00. On Sunday, Stage 3 loadshedding will resume from 16:00 until 05:00 on Monday. Eskom will communicate the update on the week ahead on Sunday afternoon,” said Eskom.

Eskom pleaded with the public to switch off non-essential appliances to reduce the demand, especially between 17:00 and 21:00.

Load shedding Stage 2 and 3

With the emergency reserves fully replenished, Stage 1 loadshedding will be implemented from 22:00 tonight until 05:00 on Thursday. Thereafter, loadshedding will be suspended until 16:00, from which time Stage 2 loadshedding resumes until 05:00 on Friday.

WHO IS ESKOM?

Eskom is a South African electricity public utility. It was established in 1923 as the Electricity Supply Commission.

The utility is the largest producer of electricity in Africa and was among the top utilities in the world in terms of generation capacity and sales.

It is the largest of South Africa’s state-owned enterprises.

WHICH POWER STATIONS DO ESKOM OPERATE?

Eskom operates a number of notable power stations, including Matimba Power Stations and Medupi Power Station in Lephalale, Kusile Power Station in Witbank, Kendal Power Station in Mpumalanga, and Koeberg Nuclear Power Station in the Western Cape, the only nuclear power plant in Africa.
