A surprise announcement from Eskom has confused many South Africans, after the country’s national electricity provider has blamed the lengthy heatwave and rising temperatures for its increased loadshedding schedule.

According to news reports, the heatwave affecting provinces ilke Gauteng, North-West and

Kwazulu-Natal has been given the blame for less power access to South Africans.

Eskom blames HEATWAVE for loadshedding

Eskom has released information that credits the heatwave and rising temperatures with the lack of power in the country.

Loadshedding schedules have been increased to Stage 4, with more announcements about the electricity supply on the way from the national electricity provider.

After electricity supply remains shaky in many provinces, South Africans are saying that Eskom might be picking an easier explanation than what is really responsible.

Eskom reducing powercuts?

According to news reported in Bloomberg this month, Eskom has managed to reduce the load on the national system – and therefore reduced the amount of active loadshedding that the country has to deal with.

Unfortunately, other news reported by Eskom have painted a darker picture for South Africans. More loadshedding has been announced tor the rest of the year, according to news reported by The South African website.

At the moment, South Africa’s power supply remains unstable – with daily changes to loadshedding schedules, which continues to impact the country.

Heatwave: Warm temperatures continue for SA

The South African Weather Service (SAWS) have noted that warm temperatures might continue for some of the country’s provinces for at least today.

Tuesday, 28 November is still expected to be warmer than usual – though temperatures might cool down for the rest of the week.

There’s no news yet on whether or not this wil change Eskom’s stance on loadshedding.
