Previous positions held: My background is in marketing and since coming to London in 2002 I have worked for a variety of marketing consultancies with clients as varied as Telecommunications to Property.

What are your main achievements in the category you are being nominated for?

Earlier this year my mother-in-law and I decided to set up a business together bringing innovative, high quality nail products to the UK at a more competitive price than the large players in the market.

I had taken some time out to look after the kids after my wife went back to work after maternity leave and was looking at going back to work when we decided to make the leap. It has been a gruelling nine months where we worked with salons and nail professionals to test out hundreds of gel nail polishes from every different manufacturer there is to find the best quality one for us. Most gel nail polish in the world is made in this one town in China, ours is made in the US.

I have learnt such a great deal, from painting bottles with UV coatings to painting a nail or two myself.
We finally launched Beauty of London Gel Polish in September 2013 at the Olympia Beauty exhibition and so far our clients are pretty impressed by the quality and the price – exactly the two things we set out to impress them with.

What makes you most proud about your business?

It is really important to us that our products deliver on what we promise and I feel very confident that our gel polish is an excellent product. I am really proud of the quality and reliability of the products we supply to our clients. My mother-in-law and I source all the products and test them extensively with our network of contacts before bringing them to market to ensure our clients have products they can rely on.

I am also really proud of our network of family, friends and contacts that helped us set up this business. They have helped us design the logo, labels for products, graphics for our exhibition stand and even our website. We couldn’t have set up this business without their help.

Community Involvement: Supporting local business is important to us – hence our name, Beauty of London. Whilst gel nail polish is not make in England we try to source everything else locally. To help support British business and manufacturing, each and every one of our bottles are made and prepared in the UK.

Favourite Business Quote: ”Leaders who win the respect of others are the ones who deliver more than they promise, not the ones who promise more than they can deliver.” Mark A. Clement

I like to be in a position where I can over deliver on my promises!

Mentor: My wife is my go-to person for pearls of wisdom and sometimes just to get a different perspective on an issue or idea. She works in an entirely different industry, heading up Diversity & Inclusion at a law firm, but I really value her input. She is really great at reigning me in and helping me talk through ideas to make them more practical.
