Paramedics said an elderly woman was seriously injured in Durban after she ran over herself with her own car on Wednesday.
And as if that is not bad enough, vagrants then robbed the injured woman.
According to Emer-G-Med spokesperson Kyle van Reenen, the elderly woman has been left with serious injuries following the freak accident in Morningside.
“Emer-G-Med paramedics responded to the scene in Gordon Road to find the woman in a serious condition.
“Reports from the scene indicate that she had parked her car. She was walking behind it when it rolled back, knocking her over and driving over her,” Van Reenen said.
He said it is further alleged that vagrants in the area then robbed the injured woman of her belongings before emergency services arrived.
“Advanced life support paramedics used several interventions to stabilize the woman. She was then transported rapidly by ambulance to a nearby hospital for further care,” Van Reenen said.
Earlier on Wednesday, the body of a murdered man was found in a drain in Cottonlands, KwaZulu-Natal.
According to Reaction Unit SA (RUSA) spokesperson Prem Balram, a passerby discovered the body.
“A passerby who was on his way to work made the discovery. He then contacted us at approximately 06:39.
“On arrival, the officers and paramedics found the man lying in a prone position. He was stabbed multiple times on his buttocks, lower back, and legs. His body was in a state of Rigor Mortis,” Balram said.
Rigor mortis is the medical term for what happens to a body after death — its muscles and joints become very stiff.
He added the identity of the man and the motive for the murder had not been established at this stage.

It seems as if KwaZulu-Natal has turned into a war zone in the past couple of weeks. Murders, attacks, and other violent crimes are clearly on the rise.
Police could not yet confirm or provide more details on the attack.
