Elderly farmer BRUTALLY assaulted and burned in attack

Police said an elderly farmer was BRUTALLY assaulted and burned in an attack on an attack in Maclear, in the Eastern Cape on a farm.

THE ELDERLY FARMER WAS BRUTALLY ATTACKED

According to police spokesperson Captain Ursula Roelofse, the 74-year-old was assaulted in his home on Thursday evening.

“It is alleged that on the 27 April 2023 at 09:00, his son went to check on his father, who is staying alone on the farm “Whoa Ha” near the Port River Bridge.

“It was then determined that the previous night three suspects broke the main door and entered the house.”

THE ATTACKERS TIED UP THE ELDERLY MAN AND ASSAULTED HIM

She said the attackers tied up the elderly man and assaulted him.

“He also had some burn wounds on his upper body. The suspects demanded money.”

HE ALSO SUSTAINED BURN WOUNDS ON HIS UPPER BODY

Roelofse furthermore said attackers cooked food, ate, and left with a Mahindra bakkie in the garage in the morning, and no cash was taken.

“No firearms were used during the incident, and the victim sustained assault injuries.”

THE INJURED FARMER WAS FOUND BY HIS SON AND RUSHED TO A DOCTOR

The injured farmer was taken to the doctor, where he was treated and discharged.

The incident was reported to the SAPS by the son after he visited his father.

NO ARRESTS HAVE BEEN MADE YET

Police are investigating a house robbery case. The stolen vehicle was found abandoned and burnt in the Tsitsana, Katkop area.
