Eight major routes are expected to be affected by a planned march in the City of Tshwane this morning, Tuesday, 16 August.

MAJOR ROUTES THAT WILL BE AFFECTED TODAY

The Tshwane Metro Police Department (TMPD) alerted motorists about this.

“Take note that there will be a march on 16 August 2022 by Tshwane Bahlali Dudula. Purpose: To sign a memorandum of agreement with Ford Motor Company, after that, they will march to N4 Gateway Industrial Park to hand in a memorandum to the centre management regarding the hiring of illegal foreign nationals,” TMPD informed.

“The marchers will gather from 09:00 at Solomon Mahlangu Square in Mamelodi.”

The route of the march is as follows:

From Solomon Mahlangu Square they will join J Ledwaba Street and turn left onto Maphalla Street and join Waltloo Road and turn left onto Simon Vermooten Road, left to Alwyn Street and proceed straight until they reach Ford Motor Company at Samcor Park.

From Ford Motor Company in Samcor Park they will join Propshaft Road and turn left onto Vonkprop Road, left to Bronkhorspruit Road and turn right onto Mokwa Street to reach N4 Gateway, Industrial Park.

The following intersections will be affected:

  • J Ledwaba Street
  • Maphalla Street
  • Simon Vermooten Road
  • Waltloo Road
  • Alwyn Road
  • Vonkprop Road
  • Bronkhorspruit Road
  • Mokwa Street

TMPD says they are expected to disperse from Ford Motor Company at 11:00 and at N4 Gateway Industrial Park at 13:00.

“Tshwane Metro Police officers will be deployed to monitor the march and all affected streets.”

Motorists are advised to avoid affected streets and use alternative routes such as:

  • Stormvoel Road
  • Shabangu Avenue
  • Boundary Drive
  • Tsamaya Avenue
  • Solomon Mahlangu Drive
