The EFF have stepped up their campaign to force Trevor Manuel out of his position at Old Mutual last week after the courts overturned a controversial decision to fire their CEO Peter Moyo on Tuesday. This means that the official will now return to the role he previously had to vacate.

The red berets place the blame for the debacle squarely at the feet of the ANC stalwart, who is a chairperson for the financial company. They have been scathing in their criticism of the official, slamming him for “acting like he or his parents” are the owners of Old Mutual.

Moyo will be allowed to return to his original position, but Trevor Manuel may not get such an easy ride from the political party. There has been an almighty row between them, which resulted in court action earlier this year. Manuel successfully sued the EFF for suggesting he acted improperly when appointing a new SARS Commissioner.

How the EFF plan to kick him out of office

However, Julius Malema and co say they are taking their case to the Supreme Court of Appeal in Bloemfontein, citing a “new witness” who can help them turn the case on its head. Their fight against Trevor Manuel will also be ramped up this week, as the firebrand organisation orchestrate a written campaign to get their adversary dismissed.

“The South Gauteng High Court has found, beyond any reasonable doubt, that Trevor Manuel is conflicted in his chairpersonship of Old Mutual. Instead of taking full responsibility for his conflict of interest, Trevor Manuel resorted to his bullying nature and expelled the CEO.”

“From the many revelations of the court, Manuel behaves like Old Mutual is his or his parents’ company. He must pack his bags and leave. The EFF will write to all major shareholders to demand that he steps down from his position, or that he is fired if he arrogantly refuses.”
