EFF says ICJ ruling is ‘nothing short of remarkable’
EFF says the World Court ruling gives them hope that Israel’s occupation of Palestine will be a thing of the past

The Economic Freedom Fighters(EFF) has welcomed the International Court of Justice judgement, ordering Irsael to prevent genocide against Palestine and says the lruling in favour of South Africa, ‘is nothing short of remarkable’.
ICJ RULES IN FAVOUR OF SOUTH AFRICA
On Friday, ICJ President Joan Donoghue in delivering the order says the court has found that there is a case of alleged genocide that Israel should answer for and will not dismiss the case.
Donoghue declated Palestinians to be a protected group under the Convention, and therefore, the court recognises the Palestinians’ right to be protected
from acts of genocide.

The court ordered Israel take all measures within its power to prevent the commission of all acts within the scope of Article II of this Convention, in particular:
(a) killing members of the group;
(b) causing serious bodily or mental harm to members of the group;
(c) deliberately inflicting on the group conditions of life calculated to bring about its
physical destruction in whole or in part; and
(d) imposing measures intended to prevent births within the group.

A CEASEFIRE NOT ORDERED
Israel has also been requested to punish the incitement of genocide as well as allowing humanitarian aid into Gaza.
The court notably did not call for an immediate ceasefile and the EFF says it still believes Palestine will one day be free from Israeli occupation.
“As the EFF, we have been consistent in our call for a ceasefire, alongside our persistent demand for an end to the complete occupation of Palestine by Israel, a colonial force” theparty says.
