Durban TAZZ driver may face charges of her own

Taking the law into your own hands may have landed a Durban woman in hot water with police, as she ran over a thief with her car

A Durban woman who pursed robbers with her car and hitting one after they attempted to hijack her and stole her purse, may possibly face charges of her own.

Video footage of the incident which was captured on CCTV before going viral, shows the two suspects approach the woman’s car- a Toyota Tazz, as she exited shopping centre in the Bluff.

With her handbag stolen, the driver who has now been identified as Sandy-Lee Ward- then decides to pursue the assailant who had run off on foot.

She is then captured by camera at a petrol station next to the mall, as she speeds through an island before hitting the suspect who body is flung a few metres away.

POLICE WITNESS IT ALL

The incident occurred in full view of police who were at the petrol station.

The second accomplice quickly escaped into an awaiting Toyota Etios.

While Ward is hailed as a hero on social media, by taking matters into her own hands, according to TimesLive, KwaZulu-Natal police spokesperson, Robert Netshiunda says that pending investigation into the incident, Ward is not yet in the clear.

The suspect was arrested and charged with common robbery.
