Investigators in Durban have sought the help of the public in tracking down eight state vehicles that were recently stolen from the Department of Agriculture in Ndwedwe, a town in Ilembe District Municipality, KwaZulu-Natal.

According to police spokesperson Colonel Thembeka Mbele, eight unknown assailants entered the state-owned premises on the evening of Monday 10 February, at about 21:30.

“Two security guards were on duty. They threatened the security guards and held them in an office. They then gained entry into an administration office and obtained the keys for the vehicles which were locked in a safe,” Mbele wrote in a statement.

Eight state vehicles were stolen from the property. Fortunately, the security guards were unharmed.

The police have not provided images of the vehicles. However, Mbele listed the vehicle type and registration of each model and we have listed them below:

A reward for your information

Durban police, unable to advance the investigation with the clues at their disposal, have resorted to seeking assistance from the public.

A reward of up to R50 000 has been offered by the police in exchange for information that will lead to the recovery of all vehicles, as well as the arrest and subsequent prosecution of all parties involved in the theft.

“A reward is offered to any individual who may have information that could assist in the investigation or the location of the vehicles. A reward of up to R50 000 is being offered for any information that could lead to the arrest of these suspects,” Mbele noted.
