Curiocity Durban: Durban’s newest poshtel with yoga & urban spa offering daily city walks & cycle tours every Thursday, as well as daily surf trips with local NGO ‘Surfers not Street Children’.

The Chairman: on Mahatma Gandhi road is a hit for live music.

Station Drive Precinct: Durban’s trendy new creative hub and home to The Morning Trade – a Sunday must see market with craft food & drink, cool retail shops, a tattoo parlour & gin bar.

Beaches and activities for the more adventurous

Margate beach: arguably the best holiday beach on the south coast.

Durban South beach, North beach & Bay of Plenty: are a favourite for local surfers and swimmers right in the heart of the city and are great spots for swimming or just lazing about people watching.

Umhlanga: with its warm Indian Ocean waters and golden sands, Umhlanga is one of KZN’s most popular beaches for locals and holiday-makers.

Lucien: is the most popular & safest south coast beach with lifeguards on duty all season.

Umdloti: offers the popular enclosed lagoon-type swimming with many rock pools for the kids to play in.

Mt Moreland Swallows: a small residential area inside a conservancy north of Durban. Between October and March thousands of barn swallows swoop and feast at sunset creating a spectacular show.

The Jump Park at Sugar Rush Park Ballito: A trampoline park for the whole family when the beach gets too much and you have some energy to burn off.
