Here is some great news if you still need to apply for your children’s placement for the 2024 academic year.

DO YOU STILL NEED TO APPLY FOR PLACEMENT OF YOUR CHILDREN FOR 2024?

Parents and guardians who missed the initial chance to apply for 2024’s grades one and eight school placements will be able to submit late applications starting Monday.

The Gauteng Department of Education’s (GDE) spokesperson, Steve Mabona said this window period would be extended until the end of January 2024.

“The Gauteng Department of Education wishes to confirm that the late applications for grades 1 and 8 in Gauteng public schools for 2024 will open on Monday the 18th of December 2023 at 8am in the morning. 

“What is important is that only schools with space will be available for applications. Now parents must apply to only one school, which will automatically place them and the documents must be submitted to schools when we reopen on the 17th of January 2024,”

said Mabona.

Parents who missed the first round of applications were urged to ensure that they used the online system to apply for placements for their children.

THE DEADLINE HAS BEEN EXTENDED UNTIL END OF JANUARY

Mabona, said parents would only be able to use the website until schools reopened in January.

“Unfortunately, district offices will not be in a position to assist parents because they are on leave.”
