South Africans are furious and fed up about the increased load shedding on Saturday, with most questioning if they had stage 6 or 8 load shedding.

DID WE HAVE STAGE 6 OR 8 LOAD SHEDDING TODAY?

This comes after Eskom sneakily implemented stage 6 load shedding shortly after midnight on Friday.

And as if more was needed, most areas in South Africa were left without electricity for most of the Saturday and not on stage 6 level. Some places were stuck without electricity for six continuous hours at a time.

SOME PLACES HAD SIX CONTINUOUS HOURS OF LOAD SHEDDING

Meanwhile, Electricity Minister Kgosientsho Ramokgopa said he would explain the increased levels on Sunday.

Not sure how much of the public is ready to listen to more explanations, mainly after he spoke in Cape Town, saying Eskom is in a better position now than it was last year.

ELECTRICITY MINISTER WILL EXPLAIN ON SUNDAY

“The present assignment to the minister of electricity is to first reduce the intensity, and we are ticking that box. The highest we are getting is (stage) 3. We are gradually bringing it down, and then once we have this additional generating capacity, when we return the plants from planned maintenance, we’ll go to lower stages of load shedding.

“I give you the assurance that it will continue to taper down to lower stages of load shedding, but that’s not my assignment; it’s just the first part of it. The responsibility is to end load shedding, and I’m confident the end is near.”

said Ramokgopa.

SOUTH AFRICANS ARE CLEARLY FED UP WITH LOAD SHEDDING

President Cyril Ramaphosa said during his State of the Nation Address that once new generation capacity from the private sector is added, load shedding will end.

He also said the government would build more than 14,000 km of new transmission lines to accommodate renewable energy.

STAGE 6 LOAD SHEDDING WILL REMAIN IN PLACE UNTIL FURTHER NOTICE

Whatever the explanations on Sunday, brace for more hours of load shedding. Eskom said on Saturday afternoon that stage 6 load shedding will remain in force until further notice as it works on returning generating units to service.
