South Africa recorded 2 783 new cases of COVID-19 in the last 24 hours, the National Institute for Communicable Diseases (NICD) has said on Thursday.
This brings the total number of laboratory-confirmed cases to 2 892 081.
This increase of 2 783 new COVID-19 cases represents a 6.8 % positivity rate.
A further 155 COVID-19 related deaths have been reported, bringing total fatalities to 86 655 to date.
“The cumulative number of recoveries is 2 753 334.”
The majority of new cases is in KwaZulu-Natal: 616 (22%), followed by Western Cape with 513 new cases (18%), the Eastern Cape with 415 (15%), and the Northern Cape with 339 new cases (12%) provinces.
