South Africa recorded 1 634 new cases of COVID-19 in the last 24 hours, the National Institute for Communicable Diseases (NICD) has said on Saturday.
This brings the total number of laboratory-confirmed cases to 2 895 976.
This increase of 1 634 new COVID-19 cases represents a 6.8 % positivity rate.
A further 34 COVID-19 related deaths have been reported, bringing total fatalities to 87 001 to date.
“The cumulative number of recoveries are 2 758 274.”
The majority of new cases is in KwaZulu-Natal: 350 (21%), followed by Western Cape with 298 new cases (18%), the Northern Cape with 260 (16%), and the Eastern Cape with 232 new cases (14%) provinces.
