Several areas in the City of Cape Town metro municipality will experience power cuts because of planned maintenance by the City. The maintenance work is expected to start on Monday, 15 November and will continue for the rest of the week.

The City of Cape Town said the planned maintenance on its electrical infrastructure is necessary and the power supply to the affected areas will be interrupted for safety reasons.

“It is the standard practice to notify customers of planned maintenance via a pamphlet delivered door-to-door ahead of work,” said the City of Cape Town.

The municipality recommended switching off all appliances at the wall socket ahead of the maintenance to reduce the risk of damage caused by power surges.

Furthermore, it warned that the power supply could be restored at any moment and therefore residents should treat all electrical appliances as live for the duration of the outage.
