CHILD GRANT payments on MONDAY
Beneficiaries of the child grants account for the largest number of social grant recipients with over 12million

The South African Social Security Agency has one final day of grant payments to process for November. This excludes the beneficiaries of the Social Relief of Distress grant.

Since the Covid pandemic, SASSA has taken a staggered approach to payments, which then sees grants being paid out on separate days, whereas in pre-covid times, all grants were paid out on the first of the month.

This month, the elderly or pensioners were paid out on Thursday 2 November, followed by the disability grant on Friday. As no grants are paid out over the weekend, child grants will be paid out on Monday 6 November.
SASSA has continued to reiterate to beneficiaries that there is no need to have their funds withdrawn on the day they are paid out , as ‘it will remain their until it is needed.’
SRD R350 EXTENDED FOR ANOTHER YEAR
Earlier this week, in delivering the Midterm Budget Policy Statement, Finance Minister Enoch Godongwana announced the extension of the SRD grant for yet another year.

The grant, was originally introduced in May 2020 to help poor households at the height of the covid pandemic.
The grant was set to expire in March 2024, however an additional R34billion has been allocated to its extension till 2025.
