Politics is politics. Well, here in South Africa, it often feels like our politics and politicians are on another level compared to the rest of the world. And no, we don’t mean that in a good way. Puppet and political comedian Chester Missing has been making us laugh (and maybe even cry) about the state of our politics for years now. He has one message for all of us before we go and vote.

In a new video posted on his Twitter page, Chester is telling all of us to wake up.

If you are a DA person who actually buys into the DA rhetoric, I can almost guarantee you have never hung out it Khayelitsha or Gugulethu. John Steenhuisen thinks like he dances… ANC voters! What the hell are you doing still voting for those scum bags. Ramaphosa has the same power as Justin Bieber’s dad.”

Go out and vote
Aside from the laughs, Chester manages to sum up Monday’s vote best towards the end of that video. Go out and vote for a DA or ANC or EFF or WHOEVER councillor, if you see them doing good work in your area.
These are municipal elections after all. If you like the traits of one of the candidates, vote for them. You may not be thrilled with the party on a national level, but that councillor candidate might just get the job done.
