Eskom continues to play cat and mouse with culprits tampering with infrastructure to remain connected.

ESKOM OVERWHELMED BY RAMPANT ILLEGAL CONNECTION

The power utility took to social media to complain about culprits who are ever-ready to reconnect after illegal connections have been removed in various parts of the country.

“Eskom and municipalities remove illegal connections every day, however, they are reconnected within an hour in most cases,” the power utility complained.

POWER UTILITY APPEALS FOR HELP FROM THE PUBLIC

The power utility went on to plead with the public to report cases of cable theft and illegal connections.

“The public is urged to continue reporting these safety concerns, since together we can win this battle one small step at a time – crime reporting line: 0800 11 27 22 (toll-free),” the entity appealed.

CITY POWER STRAINED BY CABLE THEFT IN PARTS OF JOHANNESBURG

Eskom-powered City Power in Johannesburg has been kept on its toes following a wave of power outages today. Various areas in the City of Johannesburg were out for long hours following the theft of cables and overload.

City Power appealed to the residents to be its eyes and ears.

“We plead with our customers to continue to be our eyes and ears in as far as guarding the electrical infrastructure is concerned. Kindly report any suspicious activity around our infrastructure on 0800 116166 or send WhatsApp to 083 579 4497,” City Power appealed.
